    Date: Saturday, May 3

    Time: 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

    Instructor:  Susan Giannantonio

    Flower Garden Gone Wild!

    (Abstracting the Garden)

Sketch fast & furious with mixed media
    Tear up your sketches
Fill your sketchbook with collage abstractions

Create energetic, gestural impressions of the garden with quick studies. Use those studies to compose sketchbook collages that will serve as great reference material for future paintings. Some, in fact, will often stand alone as complete and successful compositions. You've never had such fun filling your sketchbook!

    Supply List:
Supplies, below, are optional. Use what you have!
There are many brands of paint, brushes, paper and they all work for this type of sketching.

    Paper:

Sketch paper or even printer paper or thin watercolor paper
    A sketchbook for collaging.

    Glue:
Matte Medium or Gel Medium or Mod Podge or Tacky glue

Tools (all optional!, don’t buy new): A few brushes:
    Fan brush
    Liner (rigger) brush
    ½” flat brush
    ½: mop brush
    Palette knife
    Spray water bottle
    Credit card or catalyst wedge
Any type of drawing media—posca pens, pencils, etc

    Paint:

Favorite landscape colors of acrylic paints, limit palette (you don’t need a lot.) Even craft paint will work but it is nice to have artist grade paint if you can.
    I use, for instance:
    Deep Green
    Chromium Oxide
    Dioxazine Violet
    Quinacrodone Violet
    Quinacrodone Magenta
    Cobalt Blue
    Hansa Yellow
    Cadmium Orange
    White
    Black

    Monthly Member Workshop

    (Paint-In)

    Date: Saturday, June 7

    Time: 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

    Instructor:  Sue Bishop

Join instructor Sue Bishop for a creative and engaging Paint-In designed for artists of all skill levels—from beginners to advanced. This hands-on workshop will guide you through the exciting process of drawing simple human figures and developing abstracted surfaces. With step-by-step instruction and a helpful handout provided, you'll learn how to create an expressive, layered composition.

"One never stops learning when art is their passion," stated Bishop. She brings that same passion to her teaching. In this one-day seminar for WASH members, Sue will focus on abstract figures and the use of acrylics, sharing her expertise and enthusiasm in a supportive and inspiring setting.

Using the technique of visual deduction, you’ll gradually reveal your figures from within the abstract background you create, resulting in a unique and dynamic work of art.

Don’t miss this opportunity to work with a master artist. Sign up now — seating is limited!
